Listen to the Free Audio Version of Go the F**K to Sleep

I posted about this cute bedtime story for parents a few weeks ago. I loved the premise of a bedtime story not for children but for tired parents to get to sleep. It is funny, witty and laugh out loud funny at times. If you have a sense of humor, then I think you will enjoy this book.

It is written by Adam Mansbach, who is probably the best known for his popular children's book 'Goodnight Moon and is illustrated by Ricardo Cortes. But now we have the audio version, told by the talented actor Samuel L. Jackson. At the beginning of the recording, Samuel L. Jackson said that in his own experience reading stories to put kids to sleep just doesn't work. Jackson said he used to say "go the f*** to sleep" to his own daughter growing up. Well, now you can take a listen for yourself for free. Tell us what you think about it. Don't forget it's for parents, not kiddies. So enjoy.

Product Details: Amazon

Go the Fuck to Sleep is a bedtime book for parents who live in the real world, where a few snoozing kitties and cutesy rhymes don't always send a toddler sailing blissfully off to dreamland. Profane, affectionate, and radically honest, California Book Award-winning author Adam Mansbach's verses perfectly capture the familiar--and unspoken--tribulations of putting your little angel down for the night. In the process, they open up a conversation about parenting, granting us permission to admit our frustrations, and laugh at their absurdity.

With illustrations by Ricardo Cortes, Go the Fuck to Sleep is beautiful, subversive, and pants-wettingly funny--a book for parents new, old, and expectant. You probably should not read it to your children.

  1. Thanks for posting that! It was hilarious! And I've felt that way many times. Samuel L Jackson was the perfect choice for the audio too.

  2. What Chris said :-)

    Really nice!

  3. Just thinking about him reading this makes me laugh. He's such a wonderful actor and I can practically hear and picture him reading it. I have to find a time when the kids are actually... asleep to listen (or maybe I should just go find my earphones....?)

  4. I think it's hilarious, Samuel L. Jackson was the perfect actor to read this story. I can imagine his facial expression and all as well. Thanks, Chrisbookarama, Leeswammes and Bookspersonally for stopping by. :-)

  5. That's quite an interesting title. And as I have toruble sleeping at night, I'll have to check this out.

  6. i'm to late, they took it off due to copyright issues.

oh, if you would like to win a copy of the leading lady of rap, come on by, its not a video vixen novel. today and tomorrow only.

  7. I heard this yesterday. It really is hilarious!! I can relate, though I'd never say that to a child. But I have told kids to "take your ass to sleep!"

  8. As an adult I think the title is really pop out, but I don't think I can say it to my kids..You know how kids will repeat what they hear..I'll be in trouble trying to explain it :-)

  9. I think Mr. Jackson would be the perfect choice to read this book. The title just cracks me up ... and I can relate to the sentiment so much. (I can't imagine a parent who couldn't!)

  10. I loved this! I don't think anyone else would have done it justice but Sam Jackson. Very funny!

  11. I downloaded the audio version and can't wait to listen to it. Since you have already read this book, I was wondering how relevant the illustrations are to the story? Am I missing something by listening to the audio?

  12. The book version is great Aths, you don't really miss anything by listening to the audio version. I personally enjoyed the audio version considerably more. The illustrations were standard illustrations, nothing fancy, but they were in harmony with the story, so it worked well.

  13. Lena, thanks for confirming! I just listened to it and it was awesome! LOL!

  14. You really work hard for your readers, Lena! And you do an excellent job!!
